* Brom Tabs have less odor for a more pleasant spa experience.
Applications:
Before Use:
When you first start up your hot tub or spa for the first time or when you drain and refill, it will be necessary to establish a bank of bromine. The bromine tabs are a slow release product that will take several days before enough bromine is in the water. Simply add a package of 1/2 ounce of sodium bromide per 100 gallons of water. The bromine tabs will take over from there. Initially you will need to adjust the floater or feeder to the desired feed rate that will maintain the correct level of bromine.
Spa or Hot Tub Start-Up:
The feeder or floater will need to be initially adjusted. The feed rate will depend on the size of your spa and the bather load that uses the spa. Using your test kit or test strips, test the water daily until the desired level is attained. For residential spas a level of two to four ppm (parts per million) is required to be safe from water born vires and bacteria. Other factors need to be considered such as bather load or presence of organic debris which would require higher levels of bromine.
Super oxidation:
Once a week it is recommended that the spa water to be "shocked". Shocking a spa is accomplished by adding a higher level than normal of an oxidizer such as chlorine, bromine, or better yet is to use a product normally referred to as Spa Shock. The shock will help complete the oxidation that the bromine or chlorine may have missed during the course of the week. The shock process will help keep the water safe and clear.
Tips:
Proper sanitary practices require changing spa water when the, Total Dissolved Solid, become to high or you can use the rule of thumb and empty the spa very three months
